Decentius, Caesar, 350/1-353. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.88 g, 6 h), a contemporary imitation of an issue from Treveri, after 351. D N DECENTIVS NOBI CAES Bare-headed and cuirassed bust of Decentius to right; behind bust, A. Rev. VICTORIAE [DD NN AVG ET] CAE / TRS Two Victories holding wreath inscribed VOT V MVLT X, supported by short column flanked by V - S [sic!]. Cf. RIC 308 (for prototype). Attractive green patina. Good very fine.

Ex Leu Web Auction 10, 8 December 2019, 1741 and previously from the Tetrarchy Collection, formed over the past twenty-five years.


The letters V - S on the reverse of this interesting imitation are copied from an issue from Lugdunum (RIC 127), where they appear as S - V.
